German court rules against Samsung – Galxay Tab vs Apple iPad 2


THE RULING: A German court says Samsung Electronics cannot sell its new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer in Germany.
WHY: It says the design too closely resembles Apple’s iPad 2. Apple had taken Samsung to court over its Galaxy line.
LIMITATIONS: The ruling only applies to direct sales from Samsung, so distributors who acquire the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from abroad could resell them in Germany.

Motorola Xoom Android 3.1 update now out in Canada

The Android 3.1 update for the Motorola Xoom is now rolling out in Canada, the company has announced via Twitter earlier. It’s unclear why it took this long for Motorola to release an update that’s been available in the US since May. What’s more, in the US the Xoom has already been updated to Android 3.2, and who knows when Canadian Xoom owners should expect that to come their way.

Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO of Apple

Steve Jobs, co-founder and two-time CEO of Apple, offered his resignation to the company’s board Wednesday.
“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, that day has come.”
Jobs has been in poor health for some time. In January, he announced that he would be taking a medical leave of absence from the company. He returned to the public spotlight in March to help launch the iPad 2.

Canada Considers Adopting Super Wi-Fi

Tech savvy Canadians may have only read about Super Wi-Fi, but if all goes well, the wireless Internet connection with a range spanning up to 100 kilometres may soon be coming north of the border.
Approved for use in the U.S., Super Wi-Fi is being carefully considered in Canada as demand for such a wireless connection continues to grow.
“We have already received a number of queries on this subject,” said Industry Canada spokesperson Michel Cimpaye in a New Brunswick Business Journal story.

Super Wi-Fi is a very strong signal that can transmit through concrete structures while providing speeds of up to 22 megabits per second (up to par with speeds offered by Canada’s leading service providers).
